What is Numicon and how can it help my child?

 

The word Numicon is a combination of the word “number” and the word “icon”.

The plates are designed to give the children an image which they can connect to a number name and a symbol which will help them with their math's now and throughout their lives.

​

Numicon can be used to support maths at any stage in a childs development e.g. the image below.

​

We use Numicon in school but do have packs that you can use at home - speak to your class teacher.
